As a strategic step in strengthening international academic networks, a Staff Exchange program was carried out at the National Taipei University of Technology (NTUT), Taiwan. The activity took place from October 13 to 24, 2025, conducted by Dr. Sutrisno, a lecturer from the Department of Mathematics, with funding support from the 2025 WCU FSM UNDIP program.
The program, titled “Staff Exchange at National Taipei University of Technology Towards Advanced Applications of Mathematics in Smart Industries,” is part of an effort to develop international academic collaboration, particularly in the application of advanced mathematics to support the transformation of smart industries. During this exchange, Dr. Sutrisno collaborated with Dr. Hendri from the Department of Industrial Engineering and Management, NTUT—an institution ranked 170th globally by QS Ranking in the field of Engineering and Technology.
Over the two-week period, various academic and research activities were conducted, including methodological discussions, joint exploration of research topics, and planning for long-term collaboration. One of the key outcomes of this program was the drafting of a joint scientific publication titled “Towards Smart Supply Chains via Reinforcement Learning for Supplier Selection and Production Planning in Uncertain Environment.” The article highlights the use of reinforcement learning in decision-making for complex and dynamic supply chain systems.
In addition to the publication, the program also resulted in an initial agreement through the signing of an Implementation Arrangement to carry out future academic collaborations, joint research, and shared research discussions. Several research topics identified for continued collaboration include data-driven production optimization and the integration of computational mathematics in global supply chain management.
Dr. Sutrisno stated that this activity not only broadened academic perspectives but also strengthened the international standing of the Mathematics Study Program at UNDIP. He expressed hope that this collaboration would serve as a catalyst for the development of applied research relevant to future industrial needs, while also opening opportunities for students and faculty to engage in the global academic ecosystem.
Driven by a spirit of collaboration and innovation, this Staff Exchange program stands as a tangible testament to Diponegoro University’s commitment to supporting the internationalization of higher education and enhancing academic capacity toward the era of Industry 5.0.
